The archipelago got its name due to the fact that it consists of many small artificial islands, which represent an accurate map of the world. The sizes of the islands that are part of the Mir archipelago vary from 14 000 square meters to 83,000 square meters. In total, the archipelago has about 300 islands. It is covered by a breakwater that stretches for 6 kilometers. The archipelago can only be reached by air or water. All islands are planned to be sold to private owners.
