One of the most modern shrines in France. The chapel was built in 1951 in the city of Vence according to the project of the already legendary French artist and sculptor Henri Matisse.

The interior of the chapel looks more like a designer salon than a chapel in the usual understanding. The white walls of ceramic tiles are decorated with black painting, and the stained glass windows are more like abstraction than biblical scenes. The icons were painted by Matisse himself, also in black paint.

The artist did not dwell on the design of the room, but also developed vestments for priests: several colors for certain days and types of services.
