This cathedral is an outstanding masterpiece of the island's Gothic architecture, as well as an important   urban landmark. Legend has it that in the 13th century, on his way to the island for the war with the Arabs, King Jaime the First was caught in a violent storm. Then he took an oath to the Lord that if he managed to survive, he would build a magnificent temple on the island. The king managed to survive and the Arabs were defeated. The temple was ordered to be built on the site of the Medina mosque. The cathedral was rebuilt many times, and in the 20th century Gaudi himself had a hand in this. His work includes, for example, the canopy above the iron altar.

The cathedral contains magnificent stained glass windows dating back to the 14th-16th centuries. The remains of the Aragonese and Catalan kings rest in the Holy Trinity Chapel.

The length of the cathedral is 121 meters, width – 55 meters, height – 44 meters. It offers a wonderful view of the Mediterranean Sea and the Parc de Lam Mar.
