The mosque received its name in honor of the King of Saudi Arabia - Faisal, who initiated the construction of this mosque. The temple was built from 1976 to 1986 by the design of the Turkish architect Vedat Dalokai. It covers an area of 5 thousand square meters and can accommodate about 3 thousand parishioners. The building of the temple consists of a central hall, several auditoriums and galleries. The walls of the central hall are decorated with mosaics and the ceiling is decorated with a large beautiful chandelier. It is worth noting that the International University of Islam is located in the King Faisal Mosque. The King Faisal Mosque is also called the Cathedral Mosque.
