Silk Weaving Museum in Tunis, Mahdia Resort
Rating: 8,2/10 (432 votes)  The Tunisian Silk Weaving Museum is located in the building of the former Dar el Himma (Sfar) Mosque, where you can get acquainted with the distinctive traditions and interesting history of Tunisia. The exposition of the museum tells about the events of the 19th century, when Libyan Jews opened silk weaving workshops in Mahdia. There are also exhibits that speak of local silk-weaving masters of the early 20th century, who have become serious competitors of the Lyons"silk magnates". The museum also displays unique antique looms, luxurious silk fabrics and ribbons, clothes and many other values of the last century.
