Photo & Description

The Silk Weaving Museum (Dar al-Himma) is located in the former Sfar Mosque. The exposition of the museum tells how in the 19th century Libyan Jews opened several silk weaving workshops in Mahdia and how during the first half of the 20th century local craftsmen became competitors of the “silk masters” from Lyon. Here weaving looms, clothing, fabrics and silk ribbons are on display - competitors of Lyons silk.
