The museum building was built from gray basalt lava. The halls of the museum are painted in pure white, where the works of artists of the XX and XXI centuries are presented. The museum collection is represented by about 9 thousand works: sculptures, paintings, drawings, installations, graphics, photographs, films , videos, furniture and architectural models. Visiting the museum, you can trace the evolution of pop art, neorealism, photorealism, fluxus and other avant-garde trends in art and culture. For example, pop art is represented by the works of Claes Oldenburg and Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg, directions"new realism" and"fluxus" - works of art by Daniel Spoerri, Yoko Ono, Marcel Duchamp and many others. The museum also displays some of the masterpieces of classical Art Nouveau, presented by the creations of Pablo Picasso, Piet Mondrian, Paul Klee. In the last years of its existence, the museum has created another new direction: video, photo and films, which were created mainly in the last decade. In 2011, a cinema was opened here, where the connection between cinema and the visual arts is demonstrated. In general, the main task of the museum is to encourage society to dialogue about new trends in contemporary art in the world. For this reason, provocative projects are often carried out in the museum, artists are invited, who create extraordinary compositions and installations.
