Rating: 8,2/10 (5840 votes)  The Lentos Art Museum is located near the Danube and is a valuable architectural landmark of the city, thanks to the uniqueness of the project. The building of the current museum was built on the site of the former New Gallery in Linz (mid-20th century), where works of art by Wolfgang Gurlitt and masters from the second half of the 19th century - early 20th century were exhibited. In 2003, the New Gallery was rebuilt, and it was named Lentos Museum of Contemporary Art. The construction was carried out by the workshop `` Weber & Hofer '. The museum building is 130 meters long, and the facade is a rather complex system of glass panels, which in the daytime creates an effect of lightness and transparency. At night, the walls of the museum glow with neon light, changing colors. Today the collection of the museum includes about 10 thousand paintings, 1.5 thousand sculptures, 850 photographs and other objects of artistic value. The earliest works of art include works from the first half of the 19th century, while later ones are represented by the works of Andy Warhol, Karel Appel, Gottfried Helnwein. The museum collection is constantly growing. The museum has a restaurant, library and educational center.
