The Basilica of Superga is a Catholic basilica located on the top of the hill of Superga.
In 1706, Victor Amadeus II and Eugene of Savoy watched the siege of Turin from here. a vow to build a temple on a hill in the event of a successful battle.
In 1717, construction began on a magnificent domed temple. The author of the project was Filippo Juvarra – master of the late Baroque.
Representatives of the House of Savoy were buried within the walls of the basilica, starting with Victor Amadeus II.
