The Franciscan Church is located in the old town of Salzburg and is one of the oldest churches in the city. Its construction began in the 8th century, and was rebuilt several times throughout its history. The church combines several architectural styles - Baroque, Gothic and Romanesque.

The main altar of the church was created by Michael Pacher, who was later decorated by Johann Fischer von Erlach.

In 1670, the top of the bell tower was removed because the church was higher than the cathedral, which was not to the liking of the ruling archbishop.

In 1866, the church was completely restored. The last restoration of the temple was in 1983,
