With its architectural features, the chapel resembles the buildings of old Nice: rounded facades, gilded stucco molding, artificial marble, paintings with visual illusions. Construction of the chapel began in 1740 and lasted for thirty years. The religious order of black penitents, whose representatives wear exclusively black clothes, received the chapel at their disposal immediately after the completion of construction. Such brotherhoods were formed in the Middle Ages and still exist today. There are especially many of them in Provence. The chapel features paintings by unknown artists depicting the Virgin Mary and the works of artists Brie and Mirale.
