In order to create this museum, the Austrian government bought 5,000 works of art from them, and Leopold was appointed director of the museum for life. In 1994, the Austrian parliament passed a law -"Leopold's Law". Construction of the multi-storey museum began in 1999 and was completed in 2001. The museum was opened in September 2001. The museum building is built in the shape of a rectangle and is faced with white shell rock. You can enter the museum by going up the main staircase 10 meters wide.
