In the old days, raids were often made from the ocean side, and for this reason, the coastal areas of Dubai had watchtowers. Several such towers have survived to this day, including Burj Nahar and Burj Shindagha.

The Burj Nahar tower was built in 1870. Its main purpose was to protect the city from attacks from the north and east. Over time, the tower doors turned out to be almost completely covered with sand for greater stability and strength. To climb the fortification, the guards had to use ladders.

The Burj Nahar watchtower is located in the Deira district, a 10-minute drive from Dubai International Airport. Burj Nahar Tower is very popular among tourists due to the fact that a magnificent garden with neat lawns and luxurious palm trees has been built around it, and it is also considered a national treasure.

Next to the tower is a hotel made in the form of an airplane. It is in it that you can stop and plan your tourist route from this place.

The watchtower of Burj Shindagha is located in the area of the same name. The area lies on the eastern shore of Creek Bay. This watchtower is a rectangular adobe tower. It was built in 1910 and differs from other similar structures in its square shape.

The tower was a guard post. All ships that entered the bay were registered here,
