By 1987, the Chamber Music Hall, designed by Edgar Visnievski, had grown up next to it. Nearby are Potsdamer Platz, the New National Library and the State Library, built according to Scharun's designs. The Philharmonic building attracts the eye from afar. The concrete walls are asymmetrical and decorated with golden elements. Externally, the building resembles a multi-colored tent of a circus tent, in connection with which it was given the nickname `` Karayan's Circus ''.
