His educational and theological activities are associated with Wittenberg. Since 1508 Martin Luther has been teaching at the University of Wittenberg, where he gets acquainted with the works of Blessed Augustine. On October 31, 1517, he hangs on the gates of the Castle Church the theses against the sale of indulgences, which was the beginning of the Reformation. Luther preached frequently at St. Mary's City Church (built in the 14th century). On the outskirts of the Old Town is the"Luther's oak", planted on the site where the theologian burned the papal bull of his excommunication in 1520. Local attractions of Wittenberg are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. We also recommend reading Fortified Roman Empire in Germany Topic: Luther Memorial Sites in Wittenberg, Germany. |
