The most ancient part of the temple is the presbytery, built in the XIV century. The church acquired its present appearance during the frequent reconstructions that were carried out throughout its long history.

The most significant reconstruction of the temple was carried out in 1552-1565. During the reconstruction, the nave of the church was divided into three small naves, which were decorated with a vault in the Gothic style. The design of the temple was carried out by the Italian architect D.B. We got de Sala, who was the court architect of the ruler Ferdinand the First, he also carried out the reconstruction of the Podebrady castle.

The tower of the temple was erected in 1814. The last major reconstruction work was carried out in 1898. At that time, the temple acquired a pseudo-Gothic style.

On the wall of the first nave of the temple, you can see a wooden slab, on which there is an inscription – a copy of the inscription on the gravestone of Kunguta, buried in the church in 1449. Nearby is a tombstone, which depicts a man with a bowed knee. Earlier this stone was on the grave of D.B. Aostalli.

The cathedral was made in 1732 in the Baroque style, the main altar was made of copper in the late Baroque style. The altar was made in the form of a copy of the altar located in Austria in Mariazell – a famous pilgrimage site.

Today the church houses two paintings from the 18th century and a baptismal font in the Renaissance style.
