The Temple of Augustus is located in the northern part of the piazza. It is also called the Temple of Roma and Augustus, as it is dedicated to the goddess Roma and the emperor Augustus. The temple was erected in the 1st century AD.

After the end of the pagan period, the temple was converted into a church, then it was turned into a granary. During the Second World War, the temple was destroyed by a bomb explosion. In 1947, most of the temple building was rebuilt.

Today, the Augustus Temple houses a permanent archaeological exhibition, which contains finds discovered in the territory of Pula. One of the most interesting exhibits is a small collection of bronze and stone sculptures.
