Gate of San Paolo in Italy, Rome resort
Rating: 9,2/10 (1644 votes)  The gates of San Paolo are one of the gates of the Aurelian Wall. In ancient times, the gates were called Porta Ostiensis, as the road to the port began from them Ostia – Via Ostiensis. Later, the gate was renamed Porta San Paolo, because the road to the church of San Paolo fuori le Mura passed through it. The two cylindrical towers of the gate have been perfectly preserved to this day. Cestius' pyramid is located right in front of the gate.
