Rating: 7,8/10 (2553 votes) Ba Be lakes are three lakes – Pelu, Pelam and Peleng – connected by large channels. The lakes are located at an altitude of 145 meters and are the largest in Vietnam. Since 1978, the area of lakes has the status of a National Nature Reserve. The reserve includes waterfalls, lakes, numerous rocks and caves. The entire territory of the reserve is completely covered with subtropical and tropical forests. There are also trees that are more than a hundred years old. The reserve is home to over 400 species of plants, as well as about 50 species of animals, some of which are on the verge of extinction. The territory of the reserve is home to many ethnic groups. There are small villages, which are home to the Tai, White Hmaogami and Red Zao tribes. Quite comfortable hotels are provided for tourists in some settlements.
