Castell de Montjuic fortress in Spain, Barcelona resort
Rating: 8,2/10 (495 votes)  This fortress is located at the very top of Montjuic Mountain. A magnificent view opens from the corner bastions of this fortress. In the western part of the fortress stands an exquisite but gradually crumbling memorial to Francisco Franco. In total, there are several guns in the fortress, which kept the entire port at gunpoint. There are several attractions on the territory of the citadel. The War Museum is open until 9 pm. In its courtyard there are large-caliber guns of the 19th and 20th centuries: mortars, which were intended for hinged firing grenades and bombs, and guns, the firing zone of which was horizontal. The showrooms themselves are located in rooms around the courtyard. There is a library in the fortress, halls with firearms and melee weapons, models of military aircraft and warships, a large scale model of a fortress, as well as numerous models of battle sites and other castles in Spain. Hangs on the wall in one of the halls a huge map showing individual areas and important fortresses of Catalonia. A collection of soldiers is located nearby. At the very foot of the stairs is a large hall where you can see medieval and even older weapons and uniforms: armor, flails, crossbows and much more.
