The construction of the temple was carried out in the late 19th century. Initially, the temple was built on the very top of the hill, but in 1900, after a landslide caused by a storm, the temple slowly began to descend the slope, eventually it was moved to the foot. The main attraction of the pagoda is a huge white statue of Buddha, installed on the site where the temple was originally located. The statue was donated to the city by Buddhist monks in the second half of the 20th century. In 1965, the installation of the statue was completely completed. The statue is 24 meters high. On the pedestal of the statue you can see the image of seven monks, who, in September 1963, committed an act of self-immolation to mark a protest against the suppression of Buddhism. The pagoda is also famous for the magnificent garden located around the temple. Among the flowering trees, there are also artificial ponds and statues of saints.
