The Black Dragon Lake area is almost 400 hectares. It is located in the northern part of the city and occupies almost the entire park with the same name. The lake was named so in the 5th century, as the locals noticed a black dragon-like animal in it.

There are five small islands in the lake, which are connected by dams and bridges: Emerald Island, Island Water Nut, Round Island, Ray Island and Cherry Tree Island.

During the reign of the Ming Dynasty, Lucha Island kept a huge state archive. The archive kept a register of lands and a list of residents. The archive was serviced by 80 clerks, but after each census, many more people were recruited to process the data.
