The monument to Ludwig van Beethoven, located in Karlovy Vary, is considered one of the most beautiful monuments in the world, erected in honor of this great composer.

The author of the monument was Hugo Wer – a native of Karlovy Vary. In 1906, the young sculptor received the first large order - – tombstone of Karl Pupp – famous Karlovy Vary hotelier. In the future, the sculptor received more orders, and after the creation of the mausoleum for Paul – Dutch Consul General, Ware became one of the famous masters of his time. In 1909, the sculptor was awarded the Luger sculpture. Prize of the Union of German Artists of the Czech Republic. Later, Wer created a ceramic plastic `` Finish and Winner '' raquo; which was donated by President T.G. Masaryk to King George the Six of England.

During the Second World War, two allegorical reliefs set on the extreme pillars were removed and soon destroyed.

80 years after the opening of the monument, the Karlovy Vary Club in tribute to the composer, he decided to restore the lost reliefs. The creation of female nude reliefs was entrusted to the artist and sculptor Hermann Koub – graduate of the Karlovy Vary School of Artistic Ceramics.
