The house-museum of Vaptsarov is located on the square of the same name in the central part of Bansko. Here you can see an amazing rich ethnographic collection containing information about the life of the poet – photographs, first published manuscripts, costumes, documents, watches, etc. Nikola Vaptsarov was born in Bansko in 1909, in this house he lived since 1912. Vaptsarov was one of the famous poets of Bulgaria, his poems have been translated into 50 languages of the world. Nikola is the only Bulgarian to be posthumously awarded the International Peace Prize in 1952. Soon after the poet's death, his house was turned into a museum. Subsequently, three reconstructions were carried out here – in 1960, 1979 and 1992. The museum consists of three parts – a hall in which the main exposition is exhibited, and two halls with 40 seats, where you can listen to the poet's poems. It also hosts lectures in French, English and Russian. In a small extension of the building there is a gallery of works of applied and fine arts.
