Yailata cave complex in Bulgaria, Rusalka resort

The Yailata cave complex, located near the sea coast, consists of 40 caves and is the most popular tourist attraction in the region. Geographically, Yailata occupies 300 hectares. Since 1989, the complex has been declared an archaeological reserve. In the Middle Ages, these caves served as monasteries. In one of the caves of Yailata, dwellings of people who lived here, according to scientists, about 5 thousand years ago, were discovered. In the north of the complex you can see four ancient towers and part of the Byzantine wall.
