Reserve”Ropotamo” in Bulgaria, Primorsko resort
Rating: 7,6/10 (1043 votes)  Reserve Ropotamo is an amazing natural corner, located near the mouth of the river of the same name, 6 kilometers from the town of Primorsko. The Ropotamo River, thanks to untouched wildlife, difficult mountainous terrain, creeping vegetation similar to tropical lianas, flooded forests and diversity fauna, also referred to as the Bulgarian Amazon. Today, boat rafting is organized along the river, where tourists can take pictures against the backdrop of bizarre rock formations – stones `` Merry Rock '', `` Lion's Head '', fiords, dunes and caves. According to historians, the first settlements existed here in the XI – X centuries BC Later, the Thracians, Hellenes, Romans and Slavs appeared. This is evidenced by the ruins of the ancient fortresses `` Volchanovo Kale '' and `` Burhama '', and near the mouth of the river you can see the ruins of ancient stone furnaces and piers. The religious life of the early inhabitants of Ropotamo is represented by the Beglik Tash altar stones. and `` Apostle Tash '', as well as the ruins of the Church of St. Paraskeva. In 1940, the territory of Ropotamo was declared a protected area. And it is no coincidence: the reserve stands out against the background of the rest with its unique biological diversity. It is home to about 60% of all freshwater fish species in Bulgaria, 57% of mammals, 60% of amphibians, including predators and peace-loving fauna. There are also more than 200 species of birds, 8 of which are endangered, and 70 of them are in the Red Book of Bulgaria. The Ropotamo Reserve; also includes small reserves – `` Sea wormwood '', `` Serpentine island '', `` Arkutino '', `` Water lilies '' and the Stamopulo swamp. In the autumn-winter period, the hunting season opens in the reserve, but only for certain species of animals.
