The park is divided into two parts - park and palace. A little to the east is the complex   theater premises in Deheyuan, and to the west - a gallery, the length of which is 728 meters.

The walking area of Yiheyuan is also a special attraction. It includes Wanshoshuan Mountain, which occupies one-fourth of the area of the entire park, Lake Kunminghu, which was created in the likeness of Lake Xihu in Hangzhou province, as well as Houhu Lake and Houshan Mountain. The main building of the entire palace ensemble, Foxiange Temple, is located right in the center of Wanshou Mountain.
