The Postal Yard, located in the city of Karlovy Vary, is one of the most popular tourist sites.
The construction of the Postal Yard was carried out in 1791 under the leadership of the postmaster Josef Korb. In the future, people from the nobility began to visit the courtyard, as a result of which it turned into a place for walking. Soon a restaurant was opened here and the Courtyard became the most popular social and cultural place in the city with ceremonies and a dance hall.
The building was built in the classicist style. The interior decoration is decorated with elements of romanticism. Throughout the entire period of its existence, the building of the Post Office has never been rebuilt, and has survived to our time in its original form. There is also a well in the courtyard and a hall with unique frescoes by Joseph Kramolin.
The Postal Courtyard is famous for the Labitsky Hall and the Prussian Hall. hall, in which N. Paganini gave concerts at one time, A. Catalani sang, and Augustine and Josef Labitsky also held concerts several times. There is a memorial plaque that says that in 1895 the composer Antonin Dvorak performed in the courtyard building, who performed his symphony `` From the New World '' here for the first time.
The most popular place in the Postal Courtyard is Czech hall. In 1775, the hall was bought by confectioner Johann Georg Pupp, who later became the founder of the most famous and largest hotel and restaurant complex, Grandhotel Pupp.
