It was built in 1889, the design of the cathedral was carried out by the English architect George Geoffrey. Initially, the temple did not have a bell tower; it was built later, in 1912. The bell tower is dedicated to the memory of Monarch Edward VII. The Cathedral of St. George is the seat of the Anglican Bishop of Jerusalem.
