In the 10th century, the temple was enlarged to be visited by as many parishioners as possible. Over the centuries-old history, the cathedral has undergone many changes. The main part of the structure, which has survived to our times, was erected in the 17th century, in particular the Renaissance facade and the bell tower, which was built from stones of the Roman amphitheater. The cathedral was destroyed again during World War II, but the main part of the temple was restored. Mosaic fragments are visible on the floor of the cathedral dating back to the 5th and 6th centuries, as well as a 3rd century Roman sarcophagus-altar.
