Photo and description

Folklore and ethnographic equestrian theater "Zaporozhye Cossacks" is located in the city of Zaporozhye, in the southeastern part of the largest Dnieper island, Khortytsya. The Equestrian Theater carefully preserves the ancient Cossack traditions and is one of the hallmarks of this glorious city.

The Khortitsa Cavalry Regiment, also known as the "Regiment of the Black Cossacks", was previously part of the Zaporozhye division. It was formed in 1915 during the First World War and was the most powerful unit of the Ukrainian People's Army. The regiment took part in battles against Austrian and German troops, and also took part in battles during the Civil War.

To date, an exposition of weapons of the 17th - 18th centuries and the times of the civil war is provided for visitors to the Equestrian Theater. In addition, the extravagant uniform of Khortitsa warriors is kept here, thanks to which the regiment received the name "Black Cossacks", and many other interesting exhibits (machine gun, tachanka, banners, etc.). Near the Equestrian Theater, in the hangar, the first exhibits of the Museum of Ancient Shipping are kept - Cossack ships of the 18th century "The Seagull" and "Brigantine", which were raised from the bottom of the Dnieper River in 1999-2007.

Equestrian theater "Zaporozhye Cossacks" constantly holds various folklore performances with performances of folk ensembles, equestrian performances, demonstrations of traditional Cossack crafts, exciting Cossack games and entertainment.

On the territory of the folklore and ethnographic equestrian theater, there are two huts, summer sheds and a cafe "Cossack pledge", where you can taste traditional Ukrainian cuisine.

For fans of horse riding and equestrian sports, the theater has a riding school with experienced instructors. Thoroughbred horses, Ukrainian flavor, bright national costumes and medieval weapons create the illusion of historical reality.
