Clock tower in Bulgaria, Varna resort
Rating: 7,9/10 (4674 votes)  The idea of creating a Clock Tower in Varna was adopted in 1888. The building was designed by the architect Savva Dimitrievich. Two years later, the tower was completed and inaugurated. During the first years, the tower was actively used by firefighters, as the whole city was viewed from it. However, in 1898, after the telephone was carried out here, the fire-fighting activities on the tower stopped. The clock mechanism for the tower was brought from England. The clock was assembled by Oton Ivanov, who later devoted himself to this tower and worked as a watchmaker on it until his death (1932). In the future, the care of the watch passed to his son, who was engaged in them until 1976. Today, the main watchmaker on the tower is Boyan Nikolov.
