This is the name of the monastery in memory of the first Serbian archbishop St. Savva. The building was erected in 1030 and is a whole complex of buildings, including temples, cemeteries and cells. Also, the frescoes of the Small Assumption Church remind of the original appearance of the monastery. The Big Assumption Church, built much later, in 1799, keeps the main value of the Savinov Monastery: the miraculous Savino Icon of the Mother of God. This work of art is surrounded by various stories and legends, in which the prayer to the shrine saved the monastery from destruction, and its inhabitants from destruction.
