Rating: 7,8/10 (1354 votes) The Assumption Cathedral is the largest temple in Varna, as well as the cathedral of the Great Preslav and Varna Metropolitanate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. The building of the cathedral is located on Cyril and Methodius Square in the central part of the city. On Sundays and holidays, the Bulgarian male choir performs in the cathedral. The official opening of the cathedral took place in 1886. Today the temple is famous for its rich collection of frescoes, icons and stained-glass windows. Most of the frescoes inside the building were painted after World War II.
