The area of the island is 2.2 hectares. During the communist years in the Bulgarian state, the island was called Bolshevik. In 1924, a concentration camp was founded here, from where the convicts fled to the Soviet Union in 1925. In 1958, on the basis of these events, a film was shot, entitled `` On a Small Island, '' directed by Rangel Valchanov. Currently, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church is in charge of the island, and a businessman who has built a restaurant here and hotel.
