The island is about 48 kilometers long. Pine forests occupy about 70% of the island's territory. The western part of the island is considered one of the seven national parks in Croatia. The park is famous for two salt lakes: Big (depth 46 meters, area 45 hectares) and Small (depth 29 meters, area 24 hectares). These lakes are connected to the sea and to each other by small streams. In the middle of the Big Island, there is a small island where the Benedictine monastery of St. Mary (XII century) is located. Currently, the monastery has been transformed into a hotel, where tourists will have an unforgettable vacation.
