The Roman stadium in Plovdiv was previously the largest in the Balkans. Today, only part of the stadium was raised to the surface, the other part of it rests under modern buildings of shopping centers.
In the II-III centuries, the Alexandrinsky Games and gladiator fights were often held here. The capacity of the stadium was calculated for 30 thousand people.
