Golden Gate in Israel, Jerusalem resort
Rating: 9,6/10 ( votes)  The Golden Gate of Jerusalem is the oldest in the city and leads to the Temple Mount. This gate was built around 520 AD. Near them were found the ruins of a much older gate dating back to the period of the Second Temple. In the era of the Ottoman Empire, in 1541, Sultan Suleiman I the Magnificent ordered them to be walled up, and a Muslim cemetery was organized right in front of them. This was done in order to prevent the coming to Jerusalem of the Jewish Messiah, who, according to legend, had to get into the city through these gates.
