Sychrov Castle is one of the most beautiful historical castles in the Czech Republic. The castle was erected in the place where in the XIV century the village of Svoykov was located, which was directly related to the noble family of Wartenberg. In the 15th century, a family from Kiev erected fortifications on the site of the ancient times. Subsequently, the land passed into the possession of the knightly family of Lamottes.

According to legend, the ghost of the Black Lady sometimes appears in the castle, who wanders the corridors at night with candles in her hands and keeps order.

The construction of the castle was carried out at the end of the 17th century by order of the knight Lamotte d ’ Frintropp. At the end of the construction, the castle was a noble estate, made in the Baroque style. Unlike other Czech castles, Sychov was never a military-type fortress, and served as a small village manor with a chapel. Over the next 200 years, the castle passed from hand to hand.

In 1820, the castle was acquired by the Prince of France Rogan, who was expelled from his native province with his family. Thanks to the prince, a number of reconstruction works were carried out in the castle, during which the building turned into a real `` piece of France ''. It was the Rogan family that left a significant imprint on the architecture of the castle and the entire estate as a whole. Soon the castle grew one more floor, and new annexes appeared nearby. The interior decoration of the rooms was made in the neo-gothic style. The Roganov family owned the castle until 1945.
