Piazza Venezia is a Roman square, named after the Palazzo Venezia, located on it. The square is located near the Roman Forum, at the foot of the Capitoline Hill.

Even during the period of the Roman Republic, the square was an important transport point. It was the intersection of the Servian Wall with the Flaminia Route.

In the 15th century, the Venetian cardinal Pietro Barbo built a palace on the square, which since 1567 housed the Embassy of the Venetian Republic. Palazzo Mishyatelli, built on the square in 1660, was renamed Palazzo Bonaparte after the 'Madame Mother' settled there.
