Anevskaya fortress in Bulgaria
Rating: 8,2/10 (1576 votes)  Anevskaya fortress, located on the southern slopes of Stara Planina mountains at an altitude of 850 meters, is today one of the best preserved fortresses in the country. According to archaeological data, the fortress was built during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. It was also found that earlier the fortress had more than one level. The upper part served as the city center, while the central part was used for defensive purposes. The main entrance was located on the south side of the fortress. There was also a monastery complex on the territory of the fortress, which included several separate churches.
