The main church in Kotka is an Evangelical Lutheran cathedral, built in 1898 of red brick in the neo-Gothic style, designed by Josef Stenbeck. Inside there are 1560 seats. The spacious building, 54m high, with magnificent stained-glass windows, beautiful ornaments on the columns and an amazing carved wooden interior serves as a concert hall for listening to organ music.

A 44-register church organ made by Marty Portanen in the Baroque style after similar to the organ of the Freiberg Cathedral in Germany, was installed in 1998. to the centenary of the church. The altarpiece "Adoration of the Magi" by Pekka Halonen depicts the baby Jesus.
