Photo and description

The Church of the Holy Cross, located near the city walls, has some features of defensive architecture. The beginning of its construction dates back to 1300, but the main volume appeared later. Built in the tradition of hall-type temples, with one nave, the church is preceded by a square-shaped bell tower with a pointed spire. The roof is covered with tiles. The restrained exterior of the temple contrasts with the rich decoration of the interior. From the central, round pillar, stone ribs of ribs radiate out like a fan. Originally built as a hospital church, from the end of the 19th century, the church became a parish church for Krakow actors and theatergoers.
