Photo and description

On the southern coast of the Greek island of Thassos, there is a small resort town of Potos. It is located about 45 km from the capital and is considered one of the most visited resorts on the island. Holidays in Potos are especially popular among young people.

Not so long ago, Potos was just a small fishing village and was used as a harbor by the inhabitants of Theologos (the main settlement of the island until the beginning of the 20th century). Over the past decades, Potos has undergone significant changes and today has a well-developed tourist infrastructure. In and around Potos, you will find many comfortable hotels and apartments for all tastes. Despite the influx of tourists, the town has managed to preserve the magical atmosphere and comfort of a small Greek town. The narrow streets are crowded with a variety of shops and eateries. A good selection of restaurants, taverns and cafes can also be found in the waterfront area. Potos is an ideal destination for those who love active nightlife. There are a number of excellent nightclubs, where life is in full swing until the morning.

Undoubtedly, the excellent sandy beach in Potos (about 2 km long) with crystal clear water will delight you. For a small fee, you can rent sun loungers and sun umbrellas. It also offers a wide variety of water sports. Not far from Potos, in a picturesque green bay overgrown with pine trees, there is also a magnificent landscaped Pevkari beach.

While resting in Potos, you should definitely go to the picturesque village of Theologos located in the mountains (about 10 km from Potas), which is recognized as an important historical and cultural monument of the island. This traditional Greek village has retained the unique charm and flavor of a medieval town. Here you will see many ancient architectural structures. In Theologos, you should definitely visit the interesting Ethnographic Museum and the Church of Saint Demetrius, built in 1803.
