Photo and description

The monument to Maxim Gorky in Minsk was erected in 1981 in the park named after the great Russian writer. Minsk - one of the most reading capitals in the world, treated Maxim Gorky with great respect. The best sculptors and architects were selected to create the monument. The authors are: sculptors A. Zaspitsky, I. Misko, N. Ryzhenkov, architect O. Trofimchuk.

The sculptors depicted the great writer in his prime, dressed the way he liked - in a blouse and simple trousers ... The writer settled down comfortably on a park bench, apparently warmed by the sun's rays, he took off his coat and put it next to him. His whole appearance expresses deep thoughtfulness. The gaze is directed into the hazy distance of the future. The bench is installed on a low granite pedestal, as if raising the monument above the everyday bustle of the park.

Maxim Gorky has always been with great interest in Belarus and its original literary work. Gorky especially highly appreciated the poetry of Yakub Kolas and Yanka Kupala, predicting a great future for these poets.

Old weeping willows complement the monument very well. Their branches, like green streams of a waterfall, shimmer, fluttering in the wind, creating a living curtain behind the writer's back.

This is a favorite place of Minskers, where citizens like to relax with the whole family. Tourists also come to admire the monument, who willingly take pictures next to the great Russian writer. Literary holidays are held here, newlyweds come here to receive the silent blessing of their marriage from the one whose talent glorified Russia.
