Photo and description

If you are looking for a break from the hustle and bustle and hectic pace of life, you should take a trip to the Aragonese Pyrenees. This amazing area amazes with the beauty and richness of nature, and small towns located on its territory will provide you with the opportunity to understand, feel from the inside and love the life of a simple Spanish province. One of these towns is the tiny settlement of Alquezar, which is part of the province of Huesca and is part of the Aragon community. The area of this town is only 32 square kilometers, and the population is just over 300 people. There are no industries here, even agriculture is not developing - all residents earn their living only by providing tourist services.

Alquezar is a popular tourist destination. People come here to enjoy the silence, the closeness of nature, the healing mountain air and excellent local cuisine. The town is popular with older tourists and travelers with children. Day trips are organized to the city, including a walk through the picturesque streets and familiarization with local attractions.

Alquezar is surrounded on one side by the canyon of the Rio River, on the other side it borders on the Sierra de Guara Park. The town is ideal for sports such as canoeing, rock climbing, mountaineering, horse riding and cycling.

Of local attractions, I especially want to highlight the ancient cathedral church of Santa Maria la Mayor, the ethnological museum and the limestone caves in the vicinity of Alquezar with preserved prehistoric rock carvings. In 1998, these caves were listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
