Photo and description

In the northwest of the Aragonese Pyrenees, practically on the border with France, there is a small settlement of Anso. This tiny town, with a population of only 441 people in 2010, covers an area of 224 square meters. km and is part of the province of Huesca.

The settlement of Anso existed here since the 13th century and was of great strategic importance due to the fact that it was on the route from the valley of the Aragon River, where there were extensive local pastures, to the French border.

Anso was once a lively and prosperous town with developed agriculture, livestock and wood processing industries. In the middle of the last century, the city was going through difficult times, and in the post-war 50s, it fell into decay altogether due to a sharply reduced population. Recently, the city began to flourish again, today the tourism sector is successfully developing here, new hotels, restaurants and cafes are being built, due to which the flow of tourists is growing every year. This, of course, is facilitated by a favorable geographical location, beautiful nature and favorable climatic conditions. People come here to enjoy the clean air, magnificent forests, walks in the mountains, relaxing on a cozy river beach by the Veral River. In the nearby forests and mountains you can see wild animals and birds, some of which are rare.

Among the attractions I would like to note the parish church of San Pedro, built in the 16th century in the Gothic style,
