Phu Phing Palace (Bhu Bing Palace) description and photos - Thailand: Chiang Mai. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photographs and a map showing the nearest significant objects. The title in English is Bhu Bing Palace. Photo and descriptionLocated just above the Doi Suthep temple on the mountain of the same name, Phu Ping Palace is the winter residence of the Queen of Thailand. The main buildings were built in 1961, the rest - a little later. On the territory of the palace there are special rooms for high-ranking foreign guests. So the first visitors to the winter royal residence were the Danish king Frederick IX and his wife Queen Ingrid in 1962. Up to this point, the royal couple greeted distinguished guests exclusively in the capital, Bangkok. Phu Ping Palace is open to everyone, except for the time when the royal family is resting there. This usually occurs between mid-December and late February. Gardeners work all year round on the territory of the royal winter residence, creating beautiful flower arrangements from local and exotic plants. In the winter months, I grow organic strawberries here, and the Queen herself comes to eat them. The palace is made in the traditional Thai style “Reun Mu” and is located in the Doi Suthep National Park. Cool mountain air, lots of living vegetation and gorgeous views make this place a great escape from the busy city. A handicraft fair is located opposite the palace. In the vicinity of Chiang Mai, including on Mount Doi Suthep, there are individual tribes who keep the ancient skills of hand-making silver jewelry, fabrics and much more. The Phu Ping Palace Market is a great opportunity to see these people and get a souvenir of one of their wonderful creations.
