Photo and descriptionPedra Pintada is an archaeological site and rock formation located in the state of Roraima, 140 km from the state capital of Boa Vista, in the San Marcos Indian Reservation. Translated from Portuguese, it means "painted stone". The rock reaches a height of 35 meters and about 83 meters above sea level. In this rock, scientists-archaeologists have discovered a cave with the remains of the famous rock art, fragments of ceramics, dyes, stone axes, tools made of rock crystal, bones of small animals and fish, seeds and many other fossils, which testify to the settlement of primitive people here. The found drawings of people, animals and symbols were made in white and pink. It is because of them that the name "painted stone" has gone.
