Medina is an ancient part of the city in Arab countries. In Marrakech, it is located near the famous Ali Ben Yusuf Mosque and is the busiest place in the city. Located near the Koutoubia mosque, Djemaa el-Fna square was built in the XI century. The spacious square has been the hallmark of this kingdom for more than one century. But there was a time when this place was not very famous. From the Arabic language, the name Djema el-Fna is translated as "square of the dead", which is not at all strange.
